The Crowning Moment

It will be a moment that I will never forget. My feet were killing me, my nerves were gone, it was that time of night when you know you've done your job and you're getting ready to hear the results. The weekend had been great. So many wonderful women, so many fun moments. The excitement was almost palpable on stage.

Teens, Miss, Ms, Woman.......Then it was our turn.

An amazing woman was called as the 1RU, Cathe Mack-McGarry. Then the announcement for the title of 2009 All American Classic Woman. I was so nervous I was shaking. When my name was announced, I did the one thing I swore I'd never do.....cry (it ruins the make-up for pictures...lol I really think a handkerchief should be part of the receiving of the crown and banner.) Yet it was the only thing that I could do. The world went silent in an odd-rush, and the saying of everything going in slow-motion is strangely true. It is an indescribable feeling to feel the crown being pinned to your head. I know all of my pictures have my eyes closed as I struggled to hold the tears that continuously threatened to take me right over the edge. My mind raced to my children, through the struggles, through so many moment that have been lived in the pursuit of this one moment.

To all of my fellow delegates you are all really amazing women, and must always remember: We are fabulous, and...well you have to own your own hotness.

This is going to be a great year, and I look forward to the honor and privilege of representing an amazing system!
